To borrow on a phrase, the Janney part of this is "utterly fascinating". As you know, Jim, I have read the book and am preparing an extension of the dialogue, thinking, research, though I am far afield of the towpath, Mary, Mitchell, and the core of Janney's book. I have little to add to that core, so this update on the infamous fellow Janney tracks, and the attempt at discrediting Janney, is welcome. There are other holes in the story told by the reviewers, some big enough through which to drive a brigade of tanks. Gotta love perseverance.
ps. I disagree with Jim when he says Robert Dallek is a nice guy but isn't well informed abt JFK. Dallek isn't a nice guy, he's a professional liar. He's a palace historian who writes whatever his masters want. His book on Nixon is pure disinformation. In it he prety much ignores everything that has come out about Watergate in the last 20ish years, and when he does mention it he does so obliquely and/or dismissively.
Nobody with two brain cells to rub together could come to the conclusions he does abt Oswald, JFK, Nixon or Kissinger. He's not ill-informed, that's his cover. He is one of many distorians [that's dis-historians] who are protecting the ruling class generally, and the people who murdered JFK specifically. That doesn't make him a nice guy, that makes him an academic accomplice after the fact.
One more thing, kudos to Jim for calling out di Eugenio. Anybody who gets too close to the truth [Russ Baker, Janney et alia] gets ripped ferociously by that @#$%^^&*! There is no dispute that the truther community is well infiltrated by agents of the state, the trick is which ones. Here's a clue: When Baker heard that G H W Bush was in Dallas to speak just before the assassination, his research uncovered a contemporaneous bit in the local n'paper about it. Eugenio dismisses this evidence in favor of info in a book written by Kitty Kelly [I hope I have that right] in which she says that somebody had seen Bush elsewhere. Anybody can lie, but an announcement of an upcoming event in a newspaper is hard to dismiss. His slanders of Judy V Baker [no relation to Russ presumably] is another example. And there are plenty more. He's on my mole suspect list, as is the idiot that keeps putting him on the radio every week.
Here is a rebroadcast of a radio show which includes short segments of interviews with LHO and Oliver Stone, and a lengthy one with J. Garrison. Nothing new here, but fun to listen to: http://www.kpfa.org/archive/id/86549
The simple truth is that the Doorway Man is Lee Harvey Oswald. Lovelady was not sitting on the steps having his lunch as he claimed. Lovelady was told to say he was sitting having his lunch by the FBI. Why? Because the FBI were keen to portray LHO as Lovelady. The FBI didn't reckon with the fact that Lovelady can be seen clearly in the last frames of the Mark Bell film standing beside a woman and both are clapping their hands as the limousine passes. Go*da*nit, you can even see Lovelady's check shirt and the white V shaped formed by the white roll neck T Shirt under his buttoned check shirt. The FBI thought is was enough to get Lovelady to say that he was sitting and out of sight. But then the Mark Bell film spilled the FBI's dirty beans.
Verdict: Doorway Man = Lee Harvey Oswald.( I didn't shoot anybody. No, sir).
Lovelady = The Happy Clapper Out Front And Center.
Mariah, It seems to be a bit more complicated for the reason that the man in checked shirt does not appear to be Billy but a convenient substitute. Billy even went to the FBI and showed them what he was wearing that day (according to him: it was a red-and-while, vertically striped short sleeved shirt! The profile of the man in the checked is not that of Lovelady, but of someone who looks a lot like a gorilla. Take a look at the series of articles I have published about this on Veterans Today, first five of which are "JFK Special: Oswald was in the doorway, after all!", numbered up to 5. Then see JFK believe it or not: Oswald wasn't even a shooter!"
If Oswald really was outside and saw Kennedy get his head blown off, it is amazing he could calmly go back inside and use a vending machine to buy a coke, and then look so relaxed and cool when confronted by a police officer.
