Dave Robinson/Jasper Garrison JFK #45
David Robinson, a faculty member of George Fox University and an author and editor, discusses issues of historiography relative to investigations in history, using the assassination of JFK as his prime example. David spoke previously during the "Academic Freedom Conference: Are there limits to inquiry: JFK, 9/11 and the Holocaust", which many who view his presentation here will want to review.
The second hour features an interview with Jasper Garrison by Gary King, one of New Orlean's DA Jim Garrison's son, who has stood by his father while others have abandoned him. Apart from the case brought by E. Howard Hunt against Liberty Lobby for claiming he was involved in the assassination of JFK, Garrison is the only law enforcement official to have brought a case against those who took out JFK, including Clay Shaw, whom the CIA would later admit had worked for the agency.
off topic but I just came by this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4S6M1kQqryg
ReplyDeleteSad and thanks.
DeleteThank you for covering the basic principles of historiography, inquiry, etc.
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you for giving credit to Jasper Garrison, whose personal family loyalty is laudable and which we can all wish we had, since it seems rare regarding these topics.
"And thank you for giving credit to Jasper Garrison, whose personal family loyalty is laudable and which we can all wish we had, since it seems rare regarding these topics."
DeleteClare, why do you persist in posting such inane, cockamamie comments? Any son of Jim Garrison's doesn't need you lauding him on his defense of his father. I would not insult Jasper by telling him his " personal family loyalty " is "laudable". Jasper doesn't want praise from you for doing something that would be second nature to any man's son and especially to a son of Jim Garrison. Jasper defends his father not because he seeks praise but simply because it is altogether the proper and right thing to do. Do you ever think about what you are posting here, Clare?
In future, Clare, pause for thought before you make a complete ass of yourself.
Great podcast.
Excuse me? Others laud him below. No one said he "needs" praise; everyone appreciates it. Gosh!
DeleteJim Baines, maybe you are simply uninformed that the wife left Jim Garrison partly over the JFK case.
DeleteAlso, maybe you should think through how ANYONE defending someone for their work on such topics is rarer within families than one might hope.
Also, you might read my posts without prejudice. Oops! Impossible? But you're the careful thinker in conspiracy justice cases. Riiiiight.
Clare is right again Mr. Baines. Not all of his sons feel as Jasper does.
DeleteThis conversation with Professors Fetzer and Robinson is enormously important for understanding how our history has been suppressed since the Second World War.
ReplyDeleteIt is extraordinary to think that George Orwell wrote his novel "1984" in the year 1949. He was addressing the repressive totalitarian regimes of the mid-twentieth century. But it turns out that Orwell was a prophet in describing the precise methods used by the American power elite and the media to withhold from the public the truth about the death of President Kennedy.
The second half of the program was also excellent with Gary King in conversation with Jasper Garrison. Jasper even alludes to Orwell's "1984" at the end of the program.
The audio clips of Jim Garrison were well-chosen, revealing how accurate Garrison was in his conclusions about the JFK assassination. The research discoveries over the past twenty has years has vindicated Garrison and his ill-fated investigation.
The Kafkaesque treatment Garrison received from the media is extremely revealing. If the mainstream media could repress a voice as articulate as that of Garrison in 1968, we are now two generations removed in today's reporters, journalists, and broadcasters.
Can anyone identify a single name in the MSM today who is willing to take a serious look at the JFK assassination? Small wonder that it is only possible to get the truth through information available in limited edition books and the alternative media.

DeleteThanks James, I can't wait for Jasper to read a comment like that coming from someone as distinguished as yourself.

ReplyDeleteThank you, Gary. for playing Garrison's entire rebuttal of NBC's hit piece. I hope you will check out this video for more of the story and use it in another podcast. It's an interview by Dark Journalist of John Barbour. It is new to me and recorded for the 50th anniversary and has some interesting facts I haven't heard before.
Garrison charged Walter Sheridan of NBC with a felony for bribing of witness in Clay Shaw trial, Perry Russo. That's how he got equal time for the rebuttal.
"The Garrison tapes" were recorded by John Barbour. Garrison says on the tapes that it was the CIA and military intelligence who killed Kennedy This is why he was so dangerous and his trial of Clay Shaw sabotaged. Barbour had come to know Garrison after reading a book by him called "Heritage of Stone."
Garrison says on the tapes that there is no evidence whatsoever that Oswald killed JFK.
When asked whether he would do it all over again, JG said he would not because of the emotional toll it took on him.
Nice link & post. Thanks.
DeleteWatch this video where Jim Garrison is asked if he had to launch another investigation into the assassination of JFK all over again, would he do it. His reply comes near the end of the video and is very interesting.

This is the best tape on Jim Garrison with Barbour.

Jim Garrison was a beacon gleaming in the darkness of the investigation into the assassination of JFK and for that he was pilloried, pummeled and received dog's abuse for his efforts to uncover the truth about the JFK assassination. Jim Garrison shone a light into areas of the assassination where no light had been shone before nor has been shone since. And for shining that light he is remembered and he will continue to be remembered as a true American for whom the words of "My Country, 'Tis of Thee" must assuredly have been written.
ReplyDeleteNice post. Thanks.
DeleteInteresting article about member of Warren Commission, who spoke out now about feeling bamboozled:

Jim Garrison was a truly great man--one of a very few of the 20th century. His story has not been told fully by Oliver Stone.
ReplyDeleteThere is so much more that I wish Gary, being a friend of the family, would tell in this series with Jim Fetzer. Prospective witness, Perry Russo, for example, was pressured by NBC to leave town and was offered a great deal of money and a job in California.
Russo was to meet with NBC people at a motel to discuss their offer and had the smarts to call Garrison and tell him about this bribery attempt, so Garrison put a wire on him and they caught NBC in the act. That's how Garrison got so much time on NBC to tell his story you hear on this podcast.
David Robinson: I loved your comments about historiography, perception, losing the ability properly to do the discipline of history (and crime fighting and news, shall we say). However, the link page to your talk for the conference is not working for me: http://www.newsfollowup.com/videos/academic_freedom_conference_david_robinson_jfk_9-11_holocaust_2.mp4
ReplyDeleteIt uses Quicktime. I have that, but the page keeps "resetting". If it is an ongoing problem, is there some way to get it posted elsewhere?
I have had such deep discontentment for our government ever since Jim Garrison opened my eyes. He was a truly courageous man, who I admire a great deal. With everything this man has exposed, I have felt haunted deep inside, by what our government done to JFK. I so hope that some day, the real truth gets exposed. Jim Garrison was truly a great man. If it were in my power to expose the truth, I would. Jasper, I highly doubt that my comment will reach you. But, just in case it does, your Father was a great man. A man/father to truly be proud of. He was a true patriot.
